This is a reminder that all Winona ISD campuses and offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This day provides us with an opportunity to honor the legacy of Dr. King and reflect on his contributions to equality, justice, and service.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at their regular times.
Thank you for your continued support of our district. We hope you enjoy this time with your families and take a moment to celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

After careful consideration and ongoing monitoring of the current and forecasted weather conditions, Winona ISD has made the decision to close schools on Thursday, January 9th, and Friday, January 10th, 2025. This decision was not made lightly but with the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community as our top priority.
The decision to close schools is based on the following safety considerations:
1. Hazardous Travel Conditions: Local weather reports indicate the likelihood of icy roads and unsafe driving conditions to develop on Thursday, 1/9. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families who travel to and from school each day.
2. Severe Weather Forecast: Predicted freezing temperatures, coupled with precipitation Thursday night, create increased risks for travel and outdoor activities, including school arrival on Friday 1/9.
3. Limited Accessibility: Adverse weather may impact transportation routes, making it difficult for buses and vehicles to navigate rural roads and hills safely in certain areas within Winona ISD.
We encourage all families to stay updated through district communications, including our website and social media channels, for any additional updates or changes.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please take precautions, stay warm, and stay safe during this weather event.

We’re excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8th, for the start of the second semester! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for an amazing second half of the school year.
Please be aware that we are closely monitoring a winter weather event expected for Thursday and Friday. We’ll continue to watch the latest forecasts and provide updates as they become available.
Make sure you have the Winona ISD app from the app store and follow our social media for any important weather-related updates or changes to schedules.
Stay safe and get ready to start the semester strong!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Patriot Day is a time for reflection, unity, and gratitude for the courage of those who responded in the face of adversity. We also recognize the strength of our nation in the years since, built on the principles of freedom, resilience, and compassion.
At Winona ISD, we stand together in remembrance, and we are committed to teaching our students the importance of service, community, and unity. Let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can contribute to a better, stronger future for all.
