When registering a student for Head Start, Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten bring, ● Child’s birth certificate ● Child’s social security number ● Child’s immunization record ● Parent’s or Guardian’s driver license ● Proof of residence within Winona ISD - such as a utility bill ● Legal documents such as divorce decree ● Proof of income when enrolling for Pre-K or Head Start (including child support and SSI) ● Last year’s income tax return when enrolling (Head Start only) ● Copy of property tax statement if own property ● Rental or lease agreement with all occupants listed (if applicable) |
● Children enrolling for Kindergarten must be five years old by September 1, 2024.
● Children enrolling for Pre-Kindergarten must be three and a half or four years old by September 1, 2024, and meet one or more of the following specific criteria to qualify.
○ Eligibility for free and reduced lunch program, or
○ Eligibility for the English as a Second Language program (ESL), or
○ Be designated as homeless, or
○ Be a Foster child or ever has been under the care of CPS, or
○ Child of active duty military personnel, activated Guardsmen and Reservist, or a service member recovering from injuries sustained in service, or
○ Child of a parent that is eligible for the Texas Star Award.
● Students who qualify for the Head Start program must be three or four years old by September 1, 2024, and meet economic guidelines. When registering for Head Start bring the following:
○ Your prior year’s tax return, and
○ Your child’s current medical and dental exam, and
○ Proof of health insurance if applicable.
